Ok, so probably no one will find this exciting except for me...but I have good news! I went to talk to one of the religion professors the other day about a research project he and some other professors are working on regarding Latter-day Saints involved with the war. I probably won't be hired as a research assistant this semester, but maybe spring and summer! For now, I'm just volunteering a couple of hours a week, but I'm soo excited, and I think he was excited that I was excited! My first assignment is to watch this DVD about the war in Afghanistan and look for things that members of the church should know about members who are involved in the war...from every day things to the miraculous, he said...and to find out what our government has been doing to help them out since we got there...rather than just all the bad stuff we hear about. I am SO excited, I think it will be awesome. Here is a link to an article that was in The Daily Universe: Saints at War
Oh, and then I told him I was doing Washington Seminar in the fall and he got really excited about that too. He used to work in D.C. at the National Defense University and hire interns so we wanted to tell me all about it.
I have a bunch of other projects on my plate right now, too. I wish I could tell you about ALL of them but I just don't have the time. Suffice it to say that I love all of them and life is wonderful.

I am excited that this is working out for you. It aligns really well with your interests. It is also cool how his first response was that he didn't have any positions, but when he got your resume he wanted to meet with you!
That is so random... we were looking through proposals in my english class today and I was reading about that project. You are so lucky to be involved with that. You seem really excited! Good luck!
Thanks for sharing your excitement about this, Abby. I read the article too, and it all sounds very interesting. You're an impressive young woman, so no wonder he wanted to meet you!
Hey Abby,
That IS exciting! Thanks for sharing with us. I'm glad you're getting (making) all these opportunities to do what you are interested in. I hope he is able to help you with a good internship. You are awesome!
