Some of my observations about living in a city so unique as Washington, DC:
Disregard what you learned about crossing the street only when the flashing white man appears; just cross when you get the chance!
If you can't walk fast, at least make sure you're out of everyone else's way.
When leisurely using the escalator, stay to the right. The left side is for people who don't slow down.
People come here from all over the world, so it's helpful if you know your geography.
It's also helpful to know something about politics.
Unless you know exactly what you want to do in life and will do anything to get there, you may at times feel a little behind.
Lots of stuff is free, so take advantage of it!
The Nationals are not very good at baseball.
The east coast is beautiful.
Everyone should come at least once.
On a side note, I found out today that I'll get to go on a tour of the CIA Museum (a rarely seen one) at the end of the month for work!

Sounds like DC is a busy place! You make it sound great though- it makes me want to visit sometime. How cool that you get to go to the CIA museum!
I think you'll look back on this experience as something great. Regardless of what city, state, or country you prefer, experiencing other places gives you a different perspective - and in my opinion, understanding these perspectives is the best learning experience one can get and possibly one of the more useful abilities in life.
