I wasn't sure how my Memorial Day Weekend would turn out, since it was only my second weekend in Arizona, and I hear it's usually one of those sweltering hot weekends fit for the state of AZ. It was surprisingly rather cool! Thursday cooled off and even rained...most of the day too! Saturday morning I hiked Flat Iron with some of my new friends. I'd kind of been dreading it during the week, fearing the heat of the hike and expecting to have to endure some misery, but it was actually cold! I had to wear a sweatshirt, and kept taking it off and on throughout the hike. The hike was a long one, and definitely tough, but it was very much worth it. The view from the top was gorgeous! I even enjoyed the souvenir of pain the next day, as it represented my accomplishment.
Monday morning I went with Carly to her gym as a visitor. Normally I prefer exercising outside to working out at gyms, but for those days I don't want to wake up at 5am to beat the heat, a gym membership would be convenient. Later we went to Rich's (my brother-in-law) sister's house (where I'll be working later in the summer) to spend time with his family. They have a beautiful house, with a community lake in the backyard! One boat is allowed to be on the lake at a time, and you can go tubing, water skiing, etc. It was a lot of fun!
Tuesday (yesterday) was my 20th birthday-the big one. Carly took me to get pedicures with her. I think pedicures are something every woman, and maybe every man, should experience sometime. They are amazing. She also cooked me a special dinner and made my favorite mint-n-chip ice cream/oreo cake-it was delicious as ever!

My First Post
So my sister Carly made me set up this blog. Let's see...I finished up my sophomore year at BYU 3 weeks ago and now I am living in Gilbert, Arizona for the summer. I know, I know. It's going to get hot this summer... so everyone keeps telling me! I'm pretty sure if I can survive a miserably cold Utah winter, I can handle an Arizona summer. I would take hot over cold any day. In the fall, I will start taking classes for my major, which is communications, with an emphasis in public relations. I miss my friends from school and home, but so far I really like it here.
