So You Think You Can Dance

I try not to watch too much TV, but one of the shows I look forward to all year is So You Think You Can Dance-it's the only reality show I watch. It's been hard for to me watch it this summer because I'm always busy the nights that it's on, but Carly has recorded the last couple for me, and I just finished watching them this morning. I think this dance is absolutely AMAZING; I LOVE the emotion! The style is a sort of lyrical hip hop. This dance tells the story of a couple, where the woman really wants the man to stay home and spend some time with her, but she just can't keep him from his work. Here's the video-enjoy!

Good News

My first couple weeks in Arizona, I worked part-time at home with my nephew, Evan. Then a couple of weeks ago, I added a second job, at my brother-in-law's sister's house. It was my job to keep the house clean, do the laundry, and pick up the kids, and it paid well. Also, I teach a few swimming lessons each week, so it's always a complicated answer when people ask me where I'm working...and it's about to change again!

Now, in the afternoons, I'll be getting some marketing/pr experience as well! Reed and Sabrina (the parents in the family I've been working for) run a housing business here in Arizona, called Trend Homes, and are willing to let me work with their marketing person for a 2-3 hours a day for some experience. It will likely be unpaid, at least in the beginning, but I probably need experience right now more than I need money anyway. And I'll still be getting a couple hours with the kids in the afternoon, so it sounds like a perfect solution to me!

All in all, Arizona is turning out to be a great experience for me. It seemed like a bit of a rough start, but I've met a bunch of great people, I love my ward, and I'll be able to have some adventures that I wouldn't have had anywhere else. I love living with and being able to spend so much time with my sister and her family. They're amazing!

Car Flirting

Today when I was driving by myself, a guy who was about my age was sitting in the back of the car next to me. He caught my eye because he had his window rolled down and was making all sorts of hand signals to let me know he wanted my phone number. Then I noticed the car was full of cute guys! Trying not to be too distracted from the road, I quickly thought through all my options. I looked over and laughed a couple times because I actually thought it was pretty cute and I was flattered, of course! It was typical teenage car flirting...and even though I'm 20 now, it's still fun! They looked like clean-cut, nice kids, but looks can be deceiving! When we pulled up next to each other at the stop light, I rolled down my window to talk to them. They asked where I was going and I told them, but then the light turned green! The guy in the back was like, "quick, just give me your number!" I was about to, but hesitated, thought about it, and rolled up my window because a. I didn't want to get in a car accident, and b. it seems that every time I've randomly given my number to a stranger, they end up calling to see if I want to come drinking with them. First of all, I don't drink and second of all, I don't think that would impress me at all anyway! So I always end up getting excited just to have my hopes shattered. A few minutes later I kind of regretted it. Maybe I should have given them the benefit of a doubt. After all, it's not like you have to call them back.
